The birth of the Samhain Coffin...
I don't actually remember when it started or who gave me the idea in the first place but what started out as a cool idea developed and grew into a lasting tradition. The tradition...
Each year around the beginning of October my coven would get together one afternoon to decorate and personalize small wooden boxes. We would chat about our desires for the upcoming year and laugh about the things we wanted to get rid of, giving each other suggestions and bouncing around different ideas. Over the next month we would collect symbols and things that represented our desires and placed them in the box. On Samhain night the coven would gather around a bonfire and perform our Sabbat ritual. At the end of the evening, one by one, we would throw our little boxes into the fire literally and magickally setting into motion our wishes, dreams and desires.
The purpose of the Samhain Coffin...
Samhain, also know as the Witches' New Year, is the perfect time to rid yourself of habits and patterns that no longer serve you and to manifest the things you want to draw into your life. Magick begins with and flourishes best when you have clear focused intentions. The process of personalizing your own Samhain Coffin gives you time to be introspective, enables you to weed out the clutter, find what is truly important to your growth, and allows you to creatively express your desires, all of which heighten the magick. The truth be told...the manifestation of your desires really begins with the creation process, throwing it in the fire is just the exclamation point.
Your kit includes one coffin, a cloth doll, two parchment scrolls, seven lengths of cord, two specially blended herb mixtures, and instructions with tons of tips and suggestions to make it more fun and personal.
